Sustainable lighting provides distinctive identity and vibrant ambiance for nocturnal city life
The Jumeirah Corniche project was launched to upgrade the social infrastructure in the city of Dubai by providing improved sporting facilities for residents to contribute to their well-being and health. The Corniche spans over 14km along the Corniche coastal road from the Dubal Marina Beach resort to the famous Burj Al Arab Hotel. Overlooking six residential communities, it consists of a 5m wide walkway, a 4m wide jogging track, relaxation areas such as retail kiosks and landscaped areas.
This is a key landmark project for the city as facilities like jogging, walking, swimming, rowing and cycling make it a major draw for families as well as outdoor enthusiasts. The local authorities wanted an energy efficient LED lighting solution to ensure a low power consumption and low maintenance requirements while providing the necessary lighting levels for safety.
The ModulLum fitted with LEDs was the ideal solution on many levels. Its aesthetic design perfectly complements the landscape, enhancing the distinctive identity of the city. It provides a bright white light for better colour rendering and a dynamic ambiance, perfectly suited to this vibrant city. Its state-of-the-art technology ensures the required lighting levels with low power consumption and reduced operational costs.
Its’ high performance enabled the local authorities to reduce the number of luminaires by 150 – an important element for preserving the open space – and cut energy costs by 1/3 compared to a traditional lighting fixture with a discharge lamp.
