SULTAN ABDUL HALIM MUADZAM SHAH BRIDGE
(PENANG SECOND BRIDGE)
The Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge is a High Impact Project (HIP) launched under the Ninth Malaysia Plan and it is seen as a key catalyst in the socio-economic development of the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) of Malaysia. The project was delivered by a Concession Company formed by the Government of Malaysia, Jambatan Kedua Sdn Bhd (JKSB).
The 24km long expressway comprises of 19km Marine Bridge inclusive of the 475m cable stayed bridge, 7km of land expressway, 3 interchanges and the Integrated Toll System. The Overall cost of the bridge is estimated at RM 4.5 billion.
The bridge is a dual carriageway toll bridge which connects Batu Kawan on the mainland and Batu Maung on Penang Island. This is the second bridge to link the island to the mainland after the first Penang Bridge (which incidently was also lit by Schreder using Onyx33 and RT4 fixtures). The total length of the bridge is 24km , making it the longest bridge in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Construction started in November, 2008 and officially opened to traffic on 1st March, 2014.
The types of fittings installed on the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge are :-
Road and Motorcycle Lane – 1719pcs Onyx33 street lantern on 12m poles
Toll Plaza and Interchange – 82pcs RT3 soffit fixtures and 1028pcs RT4 floodlights on 30m highmast
Motorcycle Lane – 58pcs Ambar 22 street lantern on 6m poles
Administration Building Compound – 103pcs Teceo LEDs on 8m poles
